Abstract
Two new [Cd(CN)2]n frameworks with linear channels of large, elongated hexagonal cross-section have been discovered in cadmium cyanide-guest (guest = dmf or Me2SO) clathrates; the framework in the latter clathrate is the first example of a 3-D net comprising octahedral and tetrahedral cadmium centres in a 2: 1 ratio.
