Thickness effect of ferroelectric domain switching in epitaxial PbTiO 3 thin films on Pt(001)/MgO(001)

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The thickness effect of ferroelectric domain switching in epitaxial PbTiO3 thin films was investigated, using scanning force microscopy. The films were produced on the Pt(001)/Mg(001) substrates using pulsed laser deposition. It was observed that the sample films with higher c-domain population and larger tetragonality had enhanced the piezoelectric coefficients. It was also observed that as the film thickness was increased, the tetragonality of the c-domain decreased linearly.
