Abstract

The photoinduced electron transfer from tetramethylethylene to tetracyanoethylene was discussed. The photoexcitation of a charge-balanced electron donor-acceptor complex was studied using ab initio and density functional calculations. It was found that the transition energies in the polar solvent showed redshift relative to those in the gas phase.
