Abstract
Alimonti and Mariani’s (2024) recent publication, ‘Is the number of global natural disasters increasing?’ raised our hackles, insofar as it headlines an antiquated term and then attempts to stifle the lived experience of disasters in favor of an alternative accounting method. Therefore, we take the article to task on two counts: the term ‘natural disaster’ and the intentions of the study itself.
