The importance of weeds as reservoirs of viruses of field and horticultural crops

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Weeds by themselves can cause great economic damage to crops, but they can act as intermediate hosts for viruses that can infect crops and can also serve as habitats for insect vectors. Few viruses infect only a very limited set of crops, so weed problems can occur with any virus. The importance of these weeds in plant virology is further emphasized to prevent the spread of viruses and provide sophisticated control.
