title = "The development of homecare gateway for integrating bio-signals at Home",
abstract = "The objective of this study was to develop a homecare gateway for the integration of bio-signals at home. Medical clients or devices have been developed in a distributed network environment. In such an environment, each client has common network devices which are both highly specific and costly. Integrating the functions of medical clients would, then, serve to minimize the number of common network devices embedded in each client. Thus, we have developed a homecare gateway including a client/server structure in a personal area network (PAN). In the development of this homecare gateway, we have employed an embedded system which includes the XScale PXA255 processor. We have also built an embedded Linux kernel and JVM. We developed an embedded application using Java technology for client integration. This application automatically recognized clients in the PAN, using Bluetooth technology. Our application is also capable of receiving signals from other clients and sending them to a server via Ethernet.",
