Abstract

An open platform is recently booming in the mobile market. An open platform is a software system whose APIs are published to the public, and people can develop various types of applications using them. Because an open platform has many points to be considered, it is very difficult to satisfy the quality of open platform using traditional platform testing methods. This paper suggests four types of test approaches for an open platform; they are platform API testing, application testing, nonfunctional testing and API usability testing. We have conducted several open platform testing projects in which we applied these approaches and derived their efficacy. These test approaches proposed in this paper would be applicable to other industrial open platform testing.
