Abstract
To achieve new product development and quality, cost saving, information technologies for manufacturing company in product, process, manufacturing system are needed. By applying digital engineering technologies and digital virtual factory, diverse planning activities such as process planning, material planning, production flow analysis, material handling analysis and ergonomie analysis can be brought together to be performed in a single integrated environment. Engineers and process planners should make decisions in the manner of collaborative engineering in order to reduce the manufacturing preparation time and cost during developing new products. The Digital factory provides integrated in infrastructure for digital engineering, including 3-D CAD models and simulation models of machines, equipments, work cells, lines and factories. As it takes much time, cost and resources, it is necessary to seek more effective modeling and information management of products, processes and manufacturing resources. This paper proposes and develops material addressing optimization using digital virtual factory. To do that, it does some assumption to solve realistic problem and apply nesting algorithm. Material addressing and optimization system is developed using visual c++/c++, AutoCAD API and connected to database using ODBC. It is not only to carry out material addressing in factory layout of digital virtual factory but also to focus number, area of racks in material addressing. So, it enables engineers to evaluate and verify their decisions in fast and convenient way for effective material address planning.
