Abstract

A simple technique to pattern organic layers that is based on the detachment of unwanted parts of the organic layer and its application to organic light-emitting diodes (LED) were discussed. A prepatterned poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) mold was simply placed on the organic film layer on a substrate that has been deposited by thermal evaporation. Additional experiments were also carried out in order to probe other possible reasons for the detachment in addition to the work of adhesion. It was shown that the method has been applied with success to the patterning of an organic layer to define the emissive area of a green light-emitting OLED.
