Abstract

We propose a sophisticated load distribution scheme using linear programming that considers the path quality from each node to a base station in unreliable wireless sensor networks. The fair load distribution in WSNs is very critical for extending the lifetime of the network. Many load distribution methods by using linear programming have been presented under noiseless channel condition, so the load for retransmissions is neglected. Although some link quality based load distribution methods reflect the load of retransmissions, they also have limitations to delay and energy consumption. Path quality based load distribution proposes a method to improve load balance by measuring the number of successful sends in traffic without retransmissions. We improve it up to about 64% when comparing the link quality based method, and up to 83% without even considering link quality method.
