Abstract

The hydrothermal reaction of a nickel sulfate hexahydrate with 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid, 4,4-bipyridine, and naphthalene yields a green needle (2D coordination polymer) formulated as [Ni2(bpy)2(btcH)2]·(C10H 8)0.75·H2O. This metal organic framework has two kinds of pores which are hydrophobic pores entrapped naphthalene molecules and hydrophilic pores for water molecules.
