Abstract
We present neutron diffraction and magnetization results for Ba2CaIrO6. From the magnetization measurement, we confirmed that Ba2CaIrO6 undergoes a magnetic transition at 55 K, below which, according to the analysis of our neutron diffraction studies, the Ir moments are ordered antiferro-magnetically. Around the Néel temperature of 55 K, we also found that the lattice constants and the bond length between Ir and oxygen change anomalously, indicative of a probable spin-phonon coupling.
