abstract = "We demonstrate that the polyelectrolyte (PE) multilayer thin films deposited on lithographically defined hydrogel posts can be achieved in facile manner using alternating polyelectrolyte droplets in a microfluidic channel. Patterned hydrogel particles, serving as substrates for the PE deposition, were initially formed with photo curable polymers based on the optofluidic maskless lithography. Positively and negatively charged polyelectrolyte droplets in a microfluidic channel were alternately generated by controlling the Capillary Number (Ca). The flow of these alternating PE droplets around the patterned posts enabled the alternating adsorption of PEs, similar to the layer-by-layer (LbL) deposition in bulk solution.",
