Abstract
The origin of ICT was elucidated in push-pull systems. A simple model was established to estimate the amount of ICT for various systems as a function of the properties of monosubstituted systems. The model was verified from the studies for various push-pull bridge systems of butadiene, benzene, and stilbene, with various donor and acceptors. It was found that the amount of ICT for a push-pull system can be estimated by the electronegativities and polarizabilities of push and pull systems.
