Abstract

Edge computing supports a wide variety of low latency applications by bringing the capabilities of the cloud close to the end-user. Due to the properties of edge computing, such as limited coverage, it is crucial to develop edge-native technologies based on the edge-cloud continuum rather than on-premise technologies assuming edge standalone environments. In this article, we review standardization activities and survey software platforms for edge-native. We also identify open issues for orchestration technologies of edge-native.
