Abstract

This paper proposes an interleaved boost converter with single zero voltage transition (ZVT) soft switching cell for power density improvement. It has the advantage of requiring only a single resonant inductor and capacitor regardless of the number of phases. To verify the feasibility of the proposed structure, the operation modes are analyzed according to the duty of main switch. In addition, a 3kW prototype is implemented and evaluated to validate the theoretical analysis. As a result, it is confirmed that applying a single ZVT soft switching cell reduces the volume by up to 21.6% compared to adding a ZVT soft switching cell to each phase.
