Abstract
This article presents a 5.2 GHz high-efficiency rectifier, based on a Class-F Dickson charge pump, for use in RF energy harvesting systems. A single-stage Dickson charge pump with two Schottky diodes was adopted to produce a high-output DC voltage. A harmonic source-pull simulation was conducted to optimize the third harmonic impedance for the Class-F harmonic termination. The proposed scheme is verified by designing and implementing a hybrid Class-F Dickson charge pump for the 5.2 GHz band using two Schottky diodes in a package. The proposed rectifier has a very small size of 19 18 mm2, and the implemented rectifier exhibited a high RF-to-DC conversion efficiency of 64.1% and an output DC voltage of 5.1 V at an input power of 24 dBm for the 5.2 GHz single-tone signal.
