Abstract
If the upper incidence of the most common form of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), namely PTCL not otherwise specified, is 2500 cases/year, then one medical oncologist would expect to see a case every six years. Every meeting on PTCL shares a common message: we need to stop relying on anecdotes, small series of patients, and retrospective collections of information to decide what is best for patients. The Global T-Cell Lymphoma Consortium, not yet at full steam, has been launched and is now functioning. The mission of the Consortium is to provide a comprehensive network of clinical centers and principal investigators with specialized expertise in T-cell lymphoma. It is well accepted that one of the major barriers in the development of meaningful advances in PTCL relates to the timeline necessary to conduct important clinical research.
