Abstract

Much effort has recently been devoted to stretchable heaters, which are widely used as microchannel chips, sensors and displays. A successful design of a flexible heater considering its performance requires a deeper understanding of the mechanics of micro-scale materials and heat generation by resistance. In this study, the relationships among stress, exothermic performance and heat distribution according to distance between the patterns on a mogul-patterned structure were numerically analyzed using the commercial software, COMSOL ver. 5.2. The results indicated that the pattern was correlated with exothermic performance.
