Abstract

We have developed a one-dimensional analog inclinometer which can measure human motion angles of up to ±30o. Moreover, detailed information regarding the sensitivity, linearity, and dynamic behavior of vibration were reported. The analog inclinometer described herein included two capacity plates, a dielectric liquid, an inactive gas, a signal circuit, and an electronic low pass filter, all harbored within a leaden housing. The two plates were similar in area to that of the liquid contact in the horizontal position. When the inclinometer was rotated, the area became dissimilar to that of the liquid contact. As a result, the suitable electronic low pass filter for protection from vibration was found to be 1.5Hz, the sensitivity was 70 mV, the time constant was 0.278 seconds, and the linearity was ±0.1%. The obtainned frequency response data showed that the phase difference and gain decreased in cases in which the input frequency exceeded 1 Hz.
