Abstract
It is well known that porous carbon material is one of the most useful absorbents and catalyst supports. In the fuel cell system, the carbon materials such as carbon black, activated carbon, carbon nanotube have been used as an electrode and catalyst support. Approaches for the synthesis of ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) with newly created tunable micropore system and various mesostructures were presented. The micropore can be controlled by the amount of the silica nanoparticle template and the mesotructure is controlled by the use of OMS with various mesostructures. The relationship between the formation of Pt catalyst and the OMC supports was described as a function of the OMC supports. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake City, UT 11/4-9/2007).
