Abstract

This paper proposes a variable DC-link voltage (VDC) control method (VDCVM) considering the size of the vessel condition of the induction heating (IH) cooktops with a Power Factor Correction (PFC) rectifier. If the VDC is controlled at a constant value, the switching frequency should be operated far from the designed resonant network according to the smaller vessel condition. Therefore, in this paper, VDCVM is applied to increase the heating performance for each vessel by enhancing system efficiency. The validity of the proposed control method is verified through loss and efficiency analysis with simulation.
