Abstract
The corrosion resistance of the low alloy steels was improved by the addition ofMn up to 2.0 wt pct due to grain refinement and the formation of a protective rust layer. On the other hand, the addition of 5.0 wt pct manganese decreased the corrosion resistance of low alloy steel due to the microstructural changes that hinder the formation of the protective rust layer.
