Abstract

Client-relay scheme has been introduced in order to enhance data rates of mobile nodes (MNs) located in coverage hole in cellular system. MNs located far from base station may suffer from strong signal attenuation and have low data rates. Client-relay scheme can enhance the data rates of these MNs by relaying their data via other MNs relatively close to the base station. In this paper, we propose a procedure for searching and selecting optimal client-relay MN pairs based on data rates of each MN. Through simulations, it is verified that the proposed scheme can improve fairness in terms of data rates of MNs and reduces their outage probability.
