Abstract
Single-layer polymer electroluminescent devices with poly(2-methoxy-5-(2′-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV) were fabricated and current(I) - voltage(V) - electroluminescence(EL) measurements were performed. EL images were observed and recorded by using a CCD camera, and black spot growth was observed in the time domain. We discuss the origin of black spot formation and its growth by using the results of the I-V-EL measurements and image observations. A simple phenomenological model is proposed to describe black spot growth.
