Abstract

The application of carbon nanotubes (CNT) to various field emission devices was discussed. The growth of vertically aligned CNTs at low temperatures using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PE-CVD) for use as electron emitters was focused. CNTs have effective field characteristics, capacity for storage of large amounts of hydrogen, high mechanical strength, and structural diversity required for bandgap engineering.
