Abstract

Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication has been a hot topic for researchers for last few years. Energy efficiency is one of the major issues in M2M devices. In order to increase the energy efficiency of M2M battery-based devices, this paper proposes an energy efficient clustering technique in M2M based on Affinity Propagation (AP). It uses the simple idea of head rotation among the most appropriate candidates for cluster head (CH). Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can increase the energy efficiency of M2M devices.
