Abstract
Two mobile terminal (MT) power on/off state management schemes are introduced based on the level of location registers (LRs) for managing the state information of MTs. The cost of the two schemes is obtained based on modeling of the state transition behavior of an MT. Based on the observation that there is a tradeoff between the two schemes, we propose an adaptive scheme that incorporates the two schemes. The results show that the adaptive scheme selects an appropriate scheme in real time.
