Abstract
Polling technique using the request and response method for network management is described. It allows to detect failures effectively and efficiently offering relatively simple protocols for network management and imposes a smaller load on the managed system. Effective algorithms like multiple system failure (MSF) is proposed which determines manageable and unmanageable system failure and assess how the awareness of the managed network topology can effect performance efficiency of the polling count and polling response time.
